Their car was travelling southbound along the long sweeping bend of the A280 when the crash happened.

The driver of the Ford, an 18-year-old man from Henfield who was travelling north, suffered a broken arm and was taken to Worthing Hospital.

The A280 was closed in both directions for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police are now urging witnesses to the crash, or who may have seen either car before the collision, to contact them by emailing [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting Operation Clapham.
