Littlehampton Neighbourhood Plan consultation begins

LITTLEHAMPTON Town Council has launched a month of consultation on its new Neighbourhood Plan.

The first of eight meetings giving a people on the far-reaching document takes place on Wednesday (November 9) at the New Millennium Chamber in the town council’s Manor House offices, Church Street.

The plan is being drawn up as a result of the government’s Localism Bill and is intended to give communities an opportunity to air their views on the nature of local development, and for their needs to be considered.

It is aimed at giving local people the opportunity to influence the design of future developments in the town and will be a statutory document, which Arun District Council would need to refer to before finalising its own planning blueprints.

The town council wants the whole community to be involved, including businesses, schools, leisure and voluntary clubs and groups, as well as individuals.

A spokesman for the town council said: “Without your help there will be no Neighbourhood Plan, which means you will have no control over the destiny of Littlehampton. Don’t miss this chance to shape the future of your town!”

Wednesday’s meeting is for residents of River ward (east), although others will be welcome, too. It runs from 4-7pm.

For more details of the consultation see next week’s Littlehampton Gazette, out on Thursday, November 10.
