Littlehampton serves up flip side to Olympics

WITH CHRISTMAS out of the way, it’s on to Pancake Day in Littlehampton.

The town’s charity Pancake Olympics, organised by Littlehampton Town Council, will mark its fifth anniversary this year, and entries are now open for the event, to be held in the High Street on February 18.

Chairman of the council’s community resources committee, Joyce Bowyer, said: “This unusual event brings the community together in a fun way while raising awareness of the local groups that do so much for residents and raise much-needed funds for their services.

“It will be great to see the High Street packed with participants and spectators enjoying themselves as has been the case the last four years.”

Teams of four can take part in the challenge, which will consist of events including sprint, relay and curling, as well as an obstacle course, in aid of a charity of their choice.

Gold, silver and bronze awards will be presented – the reigning champions, and holder of the Gold Frying Pan are the team from Jamie’s Wish.

Registration forms can be downloaded from the town council’s website or by calling 01903 732063.

The closing date for entries is February 8.
