'The youth shelter is basically like a huge bus shelter. It'll have solar panels on the roof and a radio which will hopefully be vandal-proof.

'The idea is to have somewhere for them to hang out when it's pouring with rain, or somewhere for the girls to sit when the boys are playing football.

'The skate park will be good for younger children who can't get over to the Malling skate park and it'll be smaller and designed for younger children, it'll have a quarter pipe for skateboarders and facilities for BMX riders.'

The new facilites will be paid for using a 200,000 lottery grant which will be used to fund a number of other youth projects across the district.
