Magical play date held at North Lancing fairy tree

The event was organised by Hayley Rogers, who first set up the fairy tree near Impulse Leisure Centre in July, 2015.

After concern was recently raised about items harmful to the environment being left at the tree, such as plastic and glitter, efforts have been made to ensure the popular attraction maintains an eco-friendly ethos.

Many organisations came together to support the play date last Tuesday (August 21).

Hayley said: “We have been completely overwhelmed by the love and support the community and local businesses have shown and are incredibly proud to be a part of this with them.”

Sussex Forest Activities engaged children by creating decorations using natural things that can be found around the countryside and woodlands, while Blue Dawg provided a fairy photobooth.

Activ8 Kids offered sessions to encourage families to get more active outdoors and Steyning Physiotherapy coached families with a Pilates session.

A.Star Parties and Events appeared with a glass-winged Fairy Character and a mountain of cobbles were donated by Gardner Scardifield Lancing for the children to decorate.

Sompting Big Local took families into the parkland on scavenger and fairy hunts.

The fairy tree in North Lancing has now received a signpost from Adur District Council, which Hayley said ‘sanctions the fairies within the woodland there and their biodegradable ethos’.

Other fairy trees have also appeared in the woodland between the dewpond and Halewick Park, though Hayley said she did not create them.

However, she said: “I am eternally grateful to their creators and Adur District Council alike, for giving our family, along with many others a beautiful experience.”
