Man killed after being hit by a train near Ferring railway crossing

A MAN was killed after being struck by a train in Ferring yesterday (Wednesday, July 13).

The 37-year-old from Angmering died after being hit by the 8.15pm Littlehampton to Victoria train, at the Ferring level crossing.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokeswoman said: “BTP and officers from Sussex police attended the incident, which was reported to police at 8.35pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended, but the man, who is believed to be age 37 and from Angmering, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The line was handed back to Network Rail at 9.54pm.
