Man left with serious head injuries after Worthing assault

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted and left semi-conscious in Worthing.

At about 2.10am on Sunday, April 7, a 37-year-old man was found semi-conscious by passers-by on the corner of Brighton Road and Park Road.

He is believed to have been walking from Warwick Street into Brighton Road when he was assaulted.

The victim suffered serious head injuries and was initially treated at Worthing Hospital and has since been transferred to Hurstwood Park Hospital, in Hayward’s Heath.

He is described as in a serious but stable condition.

Detective Sergeant Chris Leech said: “This victim sustained serious injuries as a result of an assault and we would like to speak to anyone that was in the Warwick Street, Steyne Gardens or Park Road areas of Worthing who might hold some key information about what happened. Officers have been talking to people in the area but if there is anyone with information, please contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 0178 07/04.”
