A MAN has been fined and given points on his licence for being drunk while in charge of a vehicle.
Janis Lalakulics, 27, of Clun Road, Wick, was drunk and asleep when officers found him sitting in the front seat of a friend’s Citroen Berlingo in Honeysuckle Lane car park, Worthing, at 2.25am on June 29.
Music was playing and the keys were in the car’s ignition.
Officers could not rouse Lalakulics so had to rock the car from side to side to wake him.
He had 59 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of his breath – almost twice the legal limit.
Lalakulics pleaded guilty to being drunk in charge of a vehicle when he appeared at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on July 16.
He was given ten points on his licence, fined £73 and ordered to pay £235 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
A total of 98 people have so far been convicted of offences as part of Sussex Police’s summer 2015 Operation Dragonfly drink and drug-driving campaign.
