Man raises £1,000 after jumping from plane

Daredevil David Spurling leapt out of a plane as part of the NSPCC’s Big Skydive and has raised more than £1,000 for the NSPCC’s ChildLine Schools Service.

David said: “I did a bungee jump a few years ago, and have wanted to do a skydive ever since. I thought there was no better opportunity than this, whilst the NSPCC is Santander’s Charity of the Year partner. I was expecting to be really nervous on the day, but the adrenaline rush was incredible and kept me going! I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”

The NSPCC, the UK’s leading children’s charity specialising in child protection, is Santander’s Charity of the Year for 2014.

The partnership aims to raise £1 million to fund the NSPCC’s ChildLine Schools Service which is set to visit every primary school in the UK by 2016 to talk to children aged 9-11 about abuse, how to protect themselves and where to get help if they need it.

Adele Churchill, NSPCC corporate fundraising manager, said: “I would like to thank David for taking on this daring feat to raise funds for the NSPCC’s ChildLine Schools Service.

“The support of our fundraising partnership with Santander has been overwhelming and staff across the UK have been raising the bar and testing their stamina with more and more challenging fundraising events.”
