Man suffers broken jaw in Lancing attack

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked and suffered a broken jaw in North Road, Lancing.

The 20-year-old victim was waiting to be picked up for work when he was approached by a man who punched him in the face at 6.15am on Tuesday (January 12).

The man was taken to hospital and underwent surgery to treat his injury.

A 26-year-old man from Lancing, was arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm. He was questioned and bailed until 6 March.

Detective Constable Chris Bishop said: “There were possibly a number of commuters in the area at that time as it is close to Lancing railway station. We are especially keen to speak to two women who are said to have intervened in the incident and tried to help the victim.”
