Manufacturer wins KLM Airlines cabin crew training contract

RP Aero Systems, based in the Riverside industrial estate, in Littlehampton, was awarded the contract with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

The established firm will manufacture and install a Boeing 787 Door Trainer at the KLM Training Centre in Schiphol Airport, near Amsterdam.

“The Door Trainer will include all the necessary functions to meet the modern- day training needs together with features specific to the B787 aircraft,” said RP Aero Systems managing director Stephen Foster.

The trainer will consist of a 1L main door, complete with crew attendant seat and will be a true representation of the new B787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The 1L door will include RP’s advanced electronic door hinge and handle control system and out of the window visual system.

The trainer will be provided in time for KLM to train cabin crew in preparation for the arrival of their new Dreamliner aircraft in the fourth quarter of 2015.

The business is a specialist in manufacturing aircraft cabin safety and service training systems.

Mr Foster established the business in December, 1990, initially working with the motorsport industry. It now operates from a 20,000 square foot facility, providing products ranging from composite components to cabin crew safety and service training systems.
