Marks and Spencer’s multi-million expansion in Shoreham gears up for Christmas

The multi-million pound extension of Marks & Spencer in Shoreham has been given a strong reception by shoppers.

Its formal unveiling saw store Manager, Steve James and staff perform an official ribbon cutting ceremony at the Holmbush Centre to celebrate the opening of the expanded facilities.

With the store experiencing high demand in the run-up to the Christmas season, the store is continuing its recruitment drive with dozens of full-time jobs being created on site.

Mr James believed key to the store’s success this year had been a commitment to customer service and responding to suggestions for improving the large-scale store and its layout.

He said: “We’ve had a fantastic opening day and have received some great feedback from our customers who love the store and its extended ranges of fashion and quality food products.

“We’re thrilled with our bigger and better store and are pleased that we can provide customers with an even better M&S shopping experience here in Shoreham.”

Customers were welcomed into the store for its formal re-opening with a complimentary glass of prosecco and full day of celebratory entertainment, including an in-store DJ, personal shoppers and food tasting. They also had the opportunity to win a share of £1,000 worth of M&S gift cards.

The newly extended Food Hall now features a larger in-store bakery providing breads and pastries freshly made each day.

The womenswear department has increased by a third and features a brand new look and layout with collections from the popular Limited, Autograph and Per una ranges. A selection of lingerie, a more extensive range of childrenswear and a wider choice of stylish menswear are also now on offer. The updated store also features a brand new range of clothing, food, homeware and accessories from world-renowned designer, Marcel Wanders.
