Maybridge club moves ahead with improvement plan

The news that Worthing Borough Council, in partnership with Sussex Clubs for Young People, has now received a 325,620 cabinet office grant, means the proposals to provide a multi-use community facility on the site in Raleigh Way can progress.

The grant is being added to 300,000 from the borough council, West Sussex County Council and the Maybridge Keystone Club.

Trevor England, chairman of the Maybridge Keystone Club, said: "We intend to transform the old premises into a great new youth and community facility.

"We will be able to offer a brand-new, purpose-built, safe environment for many different organisations for all age groups.

"This is a fantastic example of community partnership working."

The club has also recently received 360 from Worthing Homes community initiatives support fund to buy some new equipment for the centre.

The club is open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5pm to 7pm for children of ages 11 to 19.

From Wednesday, April 1, the times of the sessions will be changing to 6pm to 8pm.

New members are welcome and the first night is free, then there is a charge of 50p.

THe club has asked the Herald to point out it did not have any windows broken by vandals on Saturday, March 7, contrary to information published in good faith.
