Members of the public stop disabled man from drowning after falling into Brooklands lake

MEMBERS of the public heroically helped save a disabled man from drowning after he fell into Brooklands lake this afternoon (Monday, May 12).

Worthing firefighters were called to the scene at 3.30pm and helped rescue the man, who had ridden his mobility scooter too close to the edge.

Firefighters said the actions of the public, who stopped the man going underwater before they arrived on the scene, potentially saved his life.

The elderly man was taken to Worthing Hospital.
