Minigolf tournament returns to Splash Point

A NATIONAL minigolf tournament will be held on Worthing seafront this weekend for the second consecutive year.

The British Minigolf Association British Masters is one of the biggest events on the professional circuit and will be held at the Splash Point course in Denton Gardens on Sunday.

The winner will take home the coveted Masters tweed jacket – akin to that of the famous green jacket awarded to the top golfer at the US Masters, held on the same weekend.

Course owners Peter Emmerson and Anthony Pope are looking forward to the day.

Mr Pope said: “We are looking forward to seeing the UK’s best minigolfers in action again on the seafront. “We are sure that all of the players will have a great time at the course and a great stay in Worthing.”

Defending champion is Michael Smith, the current holder of the game’s three biggest tournaments, and UK number one.

Entry is still available at a cost of £20 for adults and £10 for children.

Entry forms can be obtained from www.minigolf.org.uk or register on the day at 9am.

The four-round competition begins at 10am, with prizes presented by Worthing deputy mayor Bob Smytherman.
