Money spent to improve the sewer network

SOUTHERN Water is investing more than £100,000 to survey and repair the sewers in Lancing.

The water company is trying to solve the problems caused by the high water table entering the sewers in the Manor Close and Manor way area.

Using remote-control CCTV vehicles that travel down the pipes, the company has inspected 680 metres of sewer, repairing more than 350 metre’s worth.

Martin Banks, Southern Water’s network performance and quality manager said the recent fall in the level of the water table meant sections of sewer could not be surveyed.

He said the company would complete the project once the rains return.

Mr Banks added: “We are committed to completing the project and will identify and carry out repairs on all major leaks.
