From around 9am this morning, 642 homes had their lights switched off and plug sockets cut after an electrical fault in central Worthing.

Some properties in the BN14 area were affected.

Early reports suggested the power could be out for up to two hours, sending residents back to the dark ages until around 11am.

But engineers quickly brought the situation under control and had power restored by 9.25am.
