Father-of-three, Jeff North, of Kingsland Road, Broadwater, discovered the break-in on Wednesday morning when he went to charge his bike lights.

Mr North, 39, said: “The thieves dismantled my back fence and broke into my summer house. They had used a blanket to cover the windows on the inside to keep it dark and presumably hide the light from their torches.

“My eldest daughter, who is 11, was in the ground-floor bedroom when it happened and she’s petrified now and won’t go to sleep in that bedroom.”
