MP COMMITS TO GREEN CHANGES

LEWES MP Norman Baker has 'promised the earth' for World Environment Day.

Mr Baker signed up to make small lifestyle changes that will add up to big environmental benefits - and is urging his constituents to do the same.

'If we all make small personal commitments, they will add up to a big benefit for the environment,' he said.

'By taking individual action, it is possible to help tackle serious environmental issues such as climate change, energy use and consumption of water.'

Promises for World Environment Day range from small changes, such as hanging out washing rather than using the tumble dryer and turning off the tap when brushing teeth, to more involved promises like taking part in an environmental community project or paying back the environmental impact of air travel.

Mr Baker is further reducing his car use and installing more energy efficient appliances at home.
