Mr Zippy zips from London to bring fun to Ninfield Church fete

Some people had travelled from afar to take part.

Mr Zippy, the children's entertainer, had driven from London to become the star attraction.

For Helen Assorgi, who headed the organising committee, the scene on the lawn between the hall and the vicarage could not have been more satisfying.

The sun-filled scene could not have been in greater contrast to similar outdoor events which have been blighted by bad weather in the summer of 2008.

The setting was perfect for attractions such as tombolas for both children and adults, bric-a-brack, books, produce, cakes, hook-the-duck, tea on the lawn and - an innovation - gardening advice from Churchwarden Michael Wood in return for a donation.
