Mum attacked in Worthing Tesco Express store

A MOTHER was assaulted while shopping with her baby daughter in a Tesco Express store.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault on a 23-year-old woman from Worthing at 7.30pm, in Chapel Road, Worthing, on Saturday, June 6.

An altercation took place inside the store that spilled out onto the pavement where the victim was assaulted.

She sustained minor bruising to her face.

PC Mark Brett, from the Response Investigation Team, said: “We would urge anyone who was in the Tesco Express store in Chapel Road at 7.30pm or who was passing by and witnessed the incident to contact the police.”

A 20-year-old woman a 25-year-old woman both from Worthing were arrested on suspicion of assault. They were questioned and bailed until Sunday, July 19.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to e-mail [email protected] or call 101 quoting serial 1353 of 6/6. Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
