Working with a team of volunteers to create the mural, the area is in the process of being transformed.

The project is a result of a £2,000 grant to The Brighthelm Centre from Community First, to create a new mural in the heart of the city.

A spokesman at the centre said: "She portrays Brighton, people, nature and the elements, weaving them together to create something beautiful and lasting."

S.o.S aims to break down barriers in street art and get more women involved, including her own young daughter who has assisted her.

She has been mentoring local women, involving them with all aspects of the design and implementation of the project.

A group of young adults working with charity Tomorrow's People, which aims to help young people learn new skills and find work, has also been involved in the preparation of the mural.

This paved the way for workplace volunteers from the Brighton branch of City and Guilds Kineo, who donated their time and creative skills, to help craft stencils and add layers.

The piece of work, crafted by the community, is set to be officially unveiled later this month.
