MURDER ARREST: Police granted extra time to question Durrington stabbing suspect

DETECTIVES leading a murder inquiry in Durrington have been granted more time to question a 19-year-old man.

Police arrested the teenager shortly after 11pm on Friday (January 30) in Shelby Road. They had been called there following reports of a fight in the street.

On arrival, police discovered a 26-year-old local man had received multiple stab injuries. He was taken to Worthing Hospital where he was pronounced dead at midnight.

Going on information received at the scene, police arrested a 19-year-old man from Durrington. He was taken into custody for questioning.

A police spokesman said today (Sunday, February 1): "Detectives have been given an extension by Worthing Magistrates this morning (Sunday] for an extra 29 hours detention, up until 4pm on Monday, to continue questioning the suspect."
