Mystery as £71,500 a-year Adur and Worthing council officer fired

MYSTERY surrounds the reasons why one of Adur and Worthing councils’ top senior officers was dismissed on charges of gross misconduct.

Executive head of technical services Cliff Harrison was removed from his post on November 11, following a disciplinary investigation, it has emerged.

But council figures are remaining tight-lipped over the exact details of why Mr Harrison was dismissed.

The Herald requested further information about the circumstances behind the investigation from the chief executive Alex Bailey, but was told the council would not comment further, pending the outcome of a potential appeal.

The statement, released on Monday, said: “Adur and Worthing councils regret to announce that following a disciplinary hearing held on November 11 2013, Cliff Harrison was dismissed from his role as executive head of technical services.

“This followed a disciplinary investigation concluding in gross misconduct.”
