‘Nasty’ Littlehampton club attack leaves Worthing woman fighting for her sight

A woman from Worthing was left with “serious” eye damage following a vicious attack at a Littlehampton club, police announced this afternoon (January 7).

Officers said the 38-year-old victim was attacked in the female toilets of the Coco Lounger, in Clifton Road, Littlehampton, at around 2am on New Year’s Day (Tuesday, January 1).

She was rushed to Worthing Hospital where she received emergency treatment.

A 32-year-old woman from Angmering was arrested at the time on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and has been bailed until February 19.

Detective Constable Andy Hobden said: “This was a nasty attack in which the victim was initially close to losing the sight in her left eye. I would like to speak to anyone who was in the toilets at the time of this assault and who witnessed what happened and to anyone else who has any other information which may assist.
