Neighbourhood plan gives village a chance to vote in Ferring

COMMUNITY groups using Ferring Village Hall are fearing for their futures as a neighbourhood plan proposes to knock it down.

The plan was released for a six-week public consultation period on May 27. It recognises the unpopular response from residents to Arun District Council’s decision to build 50 new homes in Ferring, between 2014 and 2029.

One idea put forward is the demolition of the village hall, in Ferring Lane, Ferring and the Ferring Lane allotment site to make way for 24 new homes.

Margaret Tibbs, 86, of Goring Way, Goring, runs a dance club which uses the village hall weekly. She said: “I’m upset at the prospect of it getting pulled down. It’s been there a long time but perhaps I’ve had my use of it and maybe it’s time to think of future generations.”
