New architects appointed for Aquarena project

Previous plans for a 21-storey tower block on the Worthing seafront site were rejected in September, with hundreds of residents objecting.

In a bid to bring a fresh perspective to the designs, Roffey has appointed Allies and Morrison to work on new plans.

It has appealed the rejection – but will withdraw it if the new plans are successful.

Roffey managing director Ben Cheal said: “We are working with a respected new architect to draw up revised proposals to regenerate the rundown Aquarena site, which still stands derelict.

“Allies and Morrison have been recognised many times for their design work and the business has links to Worthing and the wider Sussex area.

“It’s important to us that our new proposals fit in with Worthing seafront and our new architects have a proven track record of creating designs that positively reflect their surroundings.

“When we have drawn up our proposals, we’ll present the design to local people and listen to what they have to say.”
