Worthing Churches Homeless Projects already runs a breakfast club in Littlehampton and has now opened Shoreham Breakfast Club at St Peter’s Church, West Street.

The MAXIMUS Foundation UK has provided a £2,500 grant to support the setting up of the club on Wednesdays, from 8.30am to 10am.

Chairman Chris Blackwell said: “The MAXIMUS Foundation UK was created expressly to help disadvantaged groups.

“The Worthing Chuches Homeless Projects is doing important work in the community and providing support to some of the most vulnerable people. We are delighted to be able to assist them in their continuing efforts.”

The foundation was founded last year to help local charities and non-profit organisations that contribute to personal growth and self-sufficiency in areas of health, employment and community development.

Tina Sutchliffe from MAXIMUS nominated the charity for the award and the cheque was presented on Wednesday by foundation trustee Simon Miles.

The money will be used to support its workshops and services that help local homeless people find accommodation.

Rachel Blair, community fundraiser for Worthing Churches Homeless Projects, said: “We are very grateful for the MAXIMUS Foundation UK’s support. We help more 1,400 people each year by providing them with specialist and one-to-one support.

“The work we do helps vulnerable people to live independently, despite the difficulties they might have experienced. It is wonderful to have been nominated by Tina.”
