Igor Beaulieu opened the Rocking Horse bar in Brighton Road, Worthing, on July 29, and it has proved a hit with the town’s clientele.

Such is the popularity, Mr Beaulieu has now acquired the premises next door to expand the bar, which he hopes to complete by Christmas.

Mr Beaulieu hopes to win the business personality award and start-up of the year prize at this year’s Adur and Worthing Business Awards.

He said: “The morale of the town has been boosted by a fresh and exciting business, bringing the community together.

“It is a meet and greet venue, perfect for small informal business meetings or a place to unwind with friends.

“Having been established for just two months, we have received an overwhelming and unexpected amount of positive compliments from our guests.”

The bar is a specialised cocktail and wine business, operating in a niche market.

Aside from Facebook, the team did not market the venue before opening.

It uses mostly locally-produced alcohol and after expansion, all food will be from Sussex, too.

Mr Beaulieu said his team create the ultimate customer experience, taking guests on a journey and explaining the background to the drinks.

He said: “Each of our drinks tells a story from its origin to history of creation.

“As well as concocting these drinks, our team will share the story and educate the guest to discover their new likings and experiences, allowing them to be taken on a new journey.”

He added: “The success of our innovative cocktails and specialised wines involves detailed and methodical training of all our staff to an exceptional level.

“We enrolled on the local apprentice scheme, which is proving to be very successful and we plan to extend it in the near future.”
