The proposals for the Brighton Road site will be displayed at the Barn Theatre at Southwick Community Centre from 4pm.

There will be a chance to ask questions of Liam Russell Architects, which is acting as agents and architects for the site’s owners, and Mr Loughton at 7pm.

Previous plans for 136 flats across three blocks at the site were scrapped after residents opposed the proposals.

Andy Harvey, a Brighton Road resident and chairman of Kingston Beach Residents’ Association, which recently met with the architects to discuss the future of the site, said: “We anticipate the proposals to be significantly different from the now withdrawn original, with variations for the public to consider.”

MP Tim Loughton has said that the new proposals would be a ‘much-reduced density scheme’ with a combination of flats and new houses in a design ‘more sympathetic’ to nearby residents.

This could involve 20 flats in a single block and 25 three and four-bed houses, Mr Loughton said.
