New restaurant launched at Worthing Hospital

Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust has just completed a refurbishment of the hospital’s restaurant facilities, which were badly damaged by a fire last March.

The new restaurant, named Shoreline, includes a new kitchen, renovated dining area, a lift for disabled customers and a new entrance from the hospital car park. There are also new heating and air-conditioning systems and improved access.

Paul Hatcher, the trust’s director of facilities and estates, said: “The new Shoreline is a huge improvement on the old restaurant facilities, and we hope our visitors and staff will find it a much more attractive and relaxing place to visit.

“The new entrance is right by the pay station in the hospital car park, so it is much more convenient for our visitors.”

The upgraded facilities have enabled hospital chefs to make major changes to the menu.

The restaurant’s new deli and salad bars offer sandwiches, salads and paninis, and there are cappuccino and espresso machines.

Shoreline will continue to offer traditional dishes like fish and chips, lasagne and pasta bakes, but is also now serving steaks, grills and stir fries, too.

It is open seven days a week, from 7.30am to 7.30pm, serving breakfasts, hot lunches and suppers.

Mr Hatcher added: “The trust is very grateful to the Friends of Worthing Hospitals, who allowed the trust to provide its staff and visitor catering service from the main entrance café area.

“This was a great success and ensured continuity of service while the refurbishment work took place.”
