New West Sussex film shows how to ‘Age with Confidence’

A NEW film has been released showing how West Sussex County Council and its partners are helping residents prepare for the later stages of their lives.

Through the Age with Confidence initiative the West Sussex Cooperative (the county council, the district and borough councils, the NHS, and voluntary groups) is promoting ways in which people can plan for old age.

The film aims to highlight how through initiatives such as Carewise, West Sussex County Council is working with leading organisations to help people find the kind of information they will need as they grow old and less able to look after themselves.

Throughout March, libraries will be promoting Age With Confidence and age-related services.

All 36 of the county’s libraries will have displays and information on the advice and services both West Sussex County Council and its partner, the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, are providing for people as they grow older.

Peter Catchpole, cabinet member for adults’ services, said: “Age with Confidence, Carewise and Meals on Wheels are all vital parts of West Sussex County Council’s strategy for older people.

“Our aim is to help older people retain their independence within their community by providing a suite of services that will help them maintain their community links, health and wellbeing, and their financial independence too.”
