New Worthing art gallery launched

A NEW GALLERY exhibiting an eclectic mix of artwork has launched in Worthing.

Gallery 26, located in Field Row, will showcase artwork and also host art workshops.

Mark Guthrie, gallery owner, said: “The main aim of Gallery 26 is to offer the community affordable artwork produced by local artists and a space in which local artists can work and exhibit.”

“The launch event played host to the eclectic mix of work by the local artists already involved in the gallery, including pieces from Skeleton Cru and the highly- acclaimed work of David McAdam Freud, son of Lucian Freud.

“The urban jam and open sessions were hugely popular,” Mark added.

“Everyone who attended was invited to add their own piece to the wall and the successful combination of live DJs and local graffiti artists was so successful that there is now talk of Gallery 26 hosting a live event like this once a month.”

The gallery is now taking bookings for art workshops, including exploration of graphic novels, acrylics, photography and graffiti. All workshops are run in partnership with local artists.

Other services include studio space, private exhibition space, and local independent film and animation screenings.
