New Year honours for West Sussex

Worthing West MP Peter Bottomley is among the first Parliamentarians to be honoured by the Queen since June 2008.

As of today the long-standing MP is Sir Peter, knighted for his public service.

Worthing residents Ann Bates has been made an OBE for services to disabled people for her work as deputy chairman and rail group chairman of the Disabled Person’s Transport Advisory committee.

Another new OBE is Pulborough resident John Dixon, executive director of Adults and Children, and deputy chief executive of West Sussex County Council, for his services to local government.

Robert Stewart Napier. from West Sussex, is chairman of the Homes and Communities Agency and the Met Office and has been made a CBE For public service.

New MBE for services to healthcare is Gillian Margaret Fletcher, from Henfield, who is a tutor for the National Childbirth Trust.

Services to continuing professional development has seen Jean Forbes Floodgate of Littlehampton, made an MBE.

Another Littlehampton resident, Gina Watson, has also been made an MBE for her services to the community in the town.
