A spokesperson for the store has confirmed that its Montague Street branch will close down in February or March next year.

A new site will open in Rustington as the Worthing store shuts, located at a site on the A259.

It will be based by the new Aldi site at the Manor Retail Park off Mill Lane.

While the Worthing branch was predominantly a ‘parcel store’ for collecting deliveries, the new Rustington store will be bigger, with a Costa Coffee and free parking, according to the branch.

Sharon Clarke, manager of the Worthing Town Centre Initiative, said: “It’s very disappointing for Worthing, but the store did need more space.

“The current Worthing shop is very small and they couldn’t have a homeware section, so they decided to move out of town.

“Obviously now looking at the empty BHS site opposite its unfortunate that the space was not available at the time they were looking to relocate and expand, but it didn’t work out timewise, which is a pity.

“Next stores are tending to be out of town now where there is parking closeby.”
