U18 FOOTBALL: Ninfield U18s had a good game against Wadhurst last Sunday with a 1-0 win. The report sent is as follows: A very hard fought victory against a very well organised Wadhurst side who made life very difficult for us. Sometimes we were our own enemy though trying to waltz past 3-4 players instead of taking the easy option... Our defence held firm for the 2nd week running and special mention to Connor, Shay & Callum... Jake also had a decent game up front despite being isolated for much of the game and being starved of service... But a win is a win and onwards & upwards is what is all about. 3 points, well deserved and to have scored against a strong defensive line shows how well you can play when you string all the tactics together. To have conceded that, and without being able to score themselves, must make that taste all the more bitter for Wadhurst, and sweeter for us! Well Done!

Weather and pitch permitting, this Sunday, February 22, they are at home against Raw Skills Rangers, 10.30 a.m.They will also be playing at home next week, March 1, against TW Youth Ridgewaye. The really tough match will be on March 8 at home on Ninfield Rec, when they face Pevensey and Westham who won 17 Nil last Sunday against Hampden Park. You might call it a local derby, and everyone in the team will be tested to see if they can break through the Pevensey defence. Peter Leach is their danger man, with 36 goals so far in 13 appearances! The three postponed matches will also need to be fitted in however, there are no dates and teams arranged to date, so please go to the Ninfield United FC facebook page to keep in touch with the news! So, three matches all at home from February 22, the lads would love your support!

PANCAKE LUNCH: St Oswald’s, Hooe, invite you all to a “Pancake Lunch” on Tuesday February 17, in Hooe Village Hall from 12 noon till 2 p.m. They welcome all comers, no ticket required just a donation towards the cost placed in the collection box before leaving.

NINFIELD HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: The Ninfield Horticultural Society next meet on Monday, February 16, at 7.30 p.m. They will have at talk by Julian Dormady of Bedgebury on Plant Hunting Around the World. This could be quite an exciting talk as many plants are quite difficult from which to gather seed. Current and new members welcome, as well as visitors for only £2. HOOE LOCAL HISTORY GROUP: Hooe History Society meet next on Thursday February 19, at 7.30 p.m. in Hooe Village Hall. It has always been the ambition of Hooe Society to research and record the history of our village, its people and the surrounding countryside. This months presentation fits into that mould exactly.

Peter Doodes has been researching The Salt Marshes. This month he will be telling us about his findings, his talk is entitled ‘ The History and continuing story of the Hooe Marshes with its salt pans, vanished harbour, villages and airfield’. NINFIELD HISTORY GROUP: Ninfield History Group meets on Thursday, February 19, at 7.30 p.m. in the Methodist Hall. They welcome Chris McCooey, who will be giving a talk on Sussex Characters Wacky Weird and Wonderful. Chris is a very entertaining speaker and he will be well worth hearing. NINFIELD ACTION GROUP: At the Ninfield Action Group meeting last week, it was confirmed that there will be a Drop In Coffee Morning on Saturday, February 21, at the Methodist Hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will be an opportunity for residents to catch up with the latest news, views and details about the application for development, while also registering any thoughts and ideas that they would like to add. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to go and have a chat over tea, coffee and cake! See posters and flyers that are up around the village for further details.

NINFIELD FLOWER GROUP: Monday, March 2, in the Memorial Hall, Ninfield Flower Group welcome Gill Smaggasgale with her demonstration entitled “Listening in Colour”. Non members are welcome at a charge of £4.00 to include refreshments. All flowers demonstrated will be raffled at the end of the evening. FIRST RESPONDERS: The Bexhill & District Community First Responders, who cover Bexhill, Ashburnham, Ninfield, Catsfield, Crowhurst, Hooe , Whydown & Normans Bay, will be meeting on Wednesday, March 4. JUMBLE SALE: Ninfield Flower group are holding a jumble sale on March 14 in the Memorial Hall. Admission is 50p/person. Doors open at 2 p.m. Lots of bargains, books, cakes etc. Anyone who is unable to attend but would like to donate please telephone Jennifer on 01424 892878 or take their donations to the hall in the morning after 9.30 a.m.
