Housing Questionnaire: As you will be aware from the report from the Parish Council chair, Ninfield village faces a challenge over the next couple of years. The Wealden District Council Local Plan allocated 50 new homes to our village and they have now started their work analysing areas around Ninfield in relation to their suitability for development. The Parish Council are committed to doing their best to be involved in the assessment process and keep the village informed. Rydon Homes held an exhibition back in November 2013 stating their intention to promote the site at Ingrams Farm, but please be aware that this is only one of at least 5 potential sites. In order to ensure that the Parish Council get the best results for our village they need your help. The Parish Council have put together a questionnaire to find your views and will be visiting every property in the village over the next couple of weeks with the questionnaire to ensure that no one is missed. Please help and tell them what you think.

Flower Show: Ninfield Flower Group are holding their Flower Show, entitled ‘Songs of Praise’ on August 2 & 3. This will be held at Ninfield Methodist Church, 10.30 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. on Saturday and 11.30 a.m - 4.30 p.m. on the Sunday. Proceeds are in aid of the Sussex Kidney Trust. Entry is £2, to include a programme. There will also be teas, cakes, bric a brac, plants, book stalls and a raffle. Morning Praise Service: Ninfield Methodist Church will be having a special Morning Praise Service on August 3, 10.30 a.m., which will feature some of the song/hymns portrayed in the displays of the Ninfield Flower Group’s Flower Show. All are very welcome to attend.

Car Show: Hooe’s Old Motor Club is holding their 45th annual Car Show on the Hooe Recreation Ground (situated between Pevensey and Ninfield on the B2095) on Sunday, August 3, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are classes for cars from the turn of last century until 1970. Informed commentary is provided in the main ring on the various vehicles together with the prestigious “lady and car” competition, in which ladies dress to match the age and spirit of the car. There will be a plethora of stalls, not all motoring related, refreshments and a musical entertainment provided by The Hooe Silver Band. There will be plenty going on for a great day out. Admission which includes a programme is £5 for adults (Children under 16 free). Car parking in the new improved car park is free. Money raised is distributed amongst local charities. Coffee Morning: A Coffee Morning/Light Lunch will be held on August 6 in aid of Chestnut Tree House, Children’s Hospice Care. Being held at Little Acre, Church Path, Ninfield, 10.30 a.m. - 2 p.m. A raffle and plants will also be available. All are welcome to support this worth while charity. Any contributions will be welcome. A few of the members of the Christian Womens Fellowship were recently invited to have a tour around Chestnut Tree House, the Children’s Hospice near Arundel. They were amazed at the quality of care and sensitivity that the terminally ill children are offered there. They take the whole family under their wing to give them respite breaks and take the stress of having a very ill child lifted off their shoulders for a short while to enjoy some quality time together in a beautiful, homely, purpose built house and safe outside areas. They are also dedicated in helping families through times of early bereavement. It was a very happy place, not at all like a hospital - even the ceilings were built at normal height as most of the children there would be in wheelchairs and avoid the lofty, echoey, clinical rooms the children may have to visit during their illnesses.

First Responders: The Bexhill & District Community First Responders, who cover Bexhill, Ashburnham, Ninfield, Catsfield, Crowhurst, Hooe , Whydown & Normans Bay, will be meeting on Wednesday, August 6. This is at Bexhill Fire Station at 7.30 p.m., every first Wednesday in the month. If you are interested in finding out more please contact the Team Leader, Mike Dean on 07970024135.

Hooe Open Group: The next meeting of Hooe Open Group will be on August 8, when the club will be visiting the Carr Taylor Vineyard to see and sample the new vintage and partake of a ploughmen’s buffet lunch. If you are interested in joining a lively group of ladies who enjoy each other’s company, contact Edna Wallis on 01424 842591 and she will be pleased to welcome you into the fold.

Summer Show: Ninfield Horticultural Society have their Summer Show on August 16, 2.30 p.m. at ninfield Memorial hall. You are invited to make your entries, schedules, including entry forms, are available from the village Post Office or from Rose (892422). Entry details need to be in by Wednesday 13th please. Whether you are an entrant or not, please do go along to this friendly, colourful show.

Hooe History Society: August is the month when members of Hooe History Society meet together for a social evening whilst still learning a little about the village. This year is no exception!

So on August 21, they will be meeting at the earlier time of 7.00 p.m. at New Lodge Farm, TN33 9HJ. They have been invited to wander around the Garden, Woodland, Lakes and Nature Reserve, to hear about the wildlife and nature on the site and how Joan and John worked to create this hidden special place. Following this experience, they will enjoy a BBQ and social time together. Car parking will be available, just follow the signs, and it might be sensible to wear suitable shoes! To cover their costs there will be a charge of just £2.50 for the BBQ. Please take your own drink, they will supply glasses and a bucket of iced water to help keep white wine and beer cool! It would be helpful to know the approximate numbers so that they can organise catering, so please let Heather (893422) or Pam and Peter (892329) know if you will be attending. The more the merrier, so if you forget to register just come anyway, you won’t be turned away! Should the weather be wet there will be limited cover for the BBQ, but you will need to wrap up for the wander.

Ninfield History Group: Ninfield Local History Group are not meeting during August. Their next meeting is on September 18, 7.30 p.m. at the Methodist Church Hall. This months talk is ‘Mad jack Fuller’ with Geoff Hutchinson. Appalachia Music: The Whitetop Mountain Band, from Virginia USA, are coming to Ninfield, courtesy of Bluegrass Plus Club, on September 20. They will be playing Appalachia music (traditional music of the region of Appalachia in the Eastern United States). The evening will also feature Alive and picking. The venue is Ninfield Memorial Hall, 8-11 p.m., tickets are £12 per person. There is a limited number of tickets.
