Ninfield & Hooe village voice

I have received information from our PCSO Daryl Holter regarding the knocking of doors in Manchester Road, Ninfield during the early hours of the morning.

This was during the weekend periods of 9-10 and 16-17 June. If you know anything of this incident or saw anything suspicious please contact Sussex Police by dialing 101, ext 65261. Other than this there are no other reported crimes in our villages.

The Ninfield 1st Scouts Group Jumble Sale last Saturday raised over £1000. The Scout Group would like to thanks all those that donated items, helped and those who went along to support this event.

Ninfield Bowls Club have been keeping busy over the last week with 3 matches: They played Battle in a League Match, loosing 54-87, they won against Hastings Visual Handicapped 64-38 and then won their League Match against Staplecross 71-69. Hopefully the good weather allows a few more wins!

Ninfield Flower group are meeting on July 2 at Ninfield Memorial Hall, 7.30pm. This months demonstration is entitled ‘Chinese Takeaway’ with Steven McDonnell. All non members are welcome at a small charge of £3 to include refreshments. All flower arrangements are raffled off at the end of the evening.

The next Ninfield Panel Meeting and Neighbourhood Watch meeting is on July 3 in the Reading Room (Church Lane) at 7.30pm. Do go along and hear the latest news

on crime and how to avoid being a victim. Our PCSO, Daryl Holter will be in attendance at the Panel Meeting which will cover his area of Ninfield, Hooe, Ashburnham, Penhurst, Catsfield and Crowhurst.

Ninfield Parish Council are next meeting on July 5, 7.30pm at the Methodist Church Hall, Church Lane. All Ninfield residents are welcome to attend.

Ninfield’s Got Talent is back on Friday July 13 evening in the Marquee on the recreation ground. A dress rehearsal of all those taking part is on July 6 at the Memorial Hall, 6.30-7.30pm. All entrants are requested that they take along with them all props required and any CD’s that you wish to perform to so that they can be put onto computer for the actual evening. If performing to the nation isn’t enough of an incentive to have a go (The nation of Ninfield that is), then maybe the prizes will get your attention: 1st £100, 2nd £50 and 3rd £25. St Oswald’s Church, Hooe are holding a “Garden Party” on July 14 at 2.00pm through to 4.30pm. Featuring Hooe Silver Band. Stalls :- Cakes, Plants, Raffle, Teddy Bears Picnic and Childrens Activities. Join Little Stars School of Dance for the Summer term. Fun and friendly dance and movement classes with Melody Bear for boys and girls aged 2 -4 years. New class - Tip Tap Toe and Groovy Moves (tap and modern) for 3 - 4 years. From September 2012 Little Stars will also be offering a Reception aged First Ballet class. First class free of charge. Ninfield Carnival will be held on July 14 with an Olympic theme. The Carnival are holding a special extra raffle to select someone to lead the procession with the Ninfield torch. This person will then light the Olympic Flame (beacon) on the rec during the opening ceremony at approximately 1.30pm. These raffle tickets are available from Ninfield Village Stores at a cost of 50p each. The winner will be drawn during Ninfield’s Got Talent on Friday July 13. There is a rota in the post office for people to offer 1 hour of their time during carnival day. It would be brilliant if people could give up a little bit to their time to help with the tea tent, raffle tent or on the tombola. If you would be willing to help, please add your details on the rota (any queries, please ring Lorna 893644.) The deadline for entries for Nifnield’s Got Talent is Friday July 6. There will be a dress rehearsal in Ninfield Memorial Hall from 6.30pm. No entries will be accepted after this date. Please get your thinking caps on - we look forward to seeing you all in the procession!!

Hooe Parish Council are meeting on July 16 at Hooe Village Hall, 7.45pm. All Hooe residents are welcome to attend.

Ninfield Local History Group be meeting on July 19, with a talk on ‘Faces and Memories’ with Jim and Brian, there is no meeting in August and on September 20, ‘What the Census Tells Us’. Everyone is welcome to the meetings. There is a charge of £1 for members and £2 for non-menbers to help cover the cost of refreshments and guest speakers. Annual membership costs £10. Ninfield Bonfire Society’s ‘Ninfield Gig’ is back, July 28 at Elm Cottage, Marlpits Lane. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Ninfield Stores at the following prices: Adults £10 each, Children £5 each, Family (2 adults, 3 children) £25. Children 5 and under go free. Ticket prices at the gate are: Adults £12, children £6 (no family tickets).

Looking ahead, The Arthritis Research Summer Garden Lunch is being held on Saturday August 4 at Elm Cottage, Marlpit Lane, 12.30pm. This is by kind invitation of Pete and Carol. All Welcome by booking with Ann. 892593. Tickets £7.50 each.

The Christian Women’s Fellowship are raising money for Chestnut Tree House Childrens Hospice by holding a coffee morning and/or mini lunch on August 8. This will be held at Little Acre, Church Path, Ninfield, 10.30am - 2pm. There will be a bring and buy, raffle and plants for sale. All contributions would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and don’t forget to take a friend!
