Nominations open for disability awards

THE BEST premises in Worthing for disabled access will be recognised in a campaign group’s annual awards.

Worthing Access and Mobility wants the public to put forward stores and anyone who has given outstanding service to disabled residents.

Secretary Norah Fisher said: “Every year, access for the less able-bodied improves in Worthing. This is partly due to the Disability Discrimination Act, but more importantly it’s because local premises are more aware of difficulties faced by people who are disabled, whether it be physical, visually impaired, hard of hearing, or who have an impairment of some kind.

“We’re forever striving for better access. Of course, there are exceptions which, no doubt, are apparent to the disabled community.

“We want to be positive about access in the town, and make sure everything is equal for everybody.”

Send nominations to Mrs Fisher, 15 Fairfields, High Street, Tarring, BN14 7TR, or email [email protected]

The closing date for entries is January 15.
