FLOWER FESTIVAL: Ewhurst Green will be holding their Festival of Flowers this weekend (Friday to Sunday) 10.30am to 4.30pm, with a concert tomorrow, Saturday, at 7.30pm, featuring Glyndebourne soprano Charlotte Beament and the a cappella singers, Green Street Blues. On Sunday, at 11.15am there will be a Service of Thanksgiving for the life of The Reverend Gordon Winchester, their much loved and deeply missed Rector.

FOOTPATH WALK: Meet in the surgery car park at 1.30pm for a 6 mile walk incorporating Ewhurst’s Flower Festival. The Footpath Group will also meet at 6.30pm on Tuesday in the Village Hall for their annual fish and chip supper. Michael Clarke will give a short talk entitled So Where Are We...? Booked places only for this one.

COFFEE STOP: Call into the Church Centre on Wednesday mornings for coffee and a chat at Coffee Stop, between 10am and 12 noon. Lace Group meets in the Jenkins Room at 2pm.

WI: The ladies of the Women’s Institute are having a day off and having an outing to The Salutation in Sandwich.

BANKING: Having had a rare Thursday off recently, I noticed the mobile bank in the village hall car park. Should you not be aware of it, NatWest bring their mobile bank every Thursday afternoon (from 1.30pm), which saves a drive into a nearby town.

VILLAGE FAIR: Next Saturday (August 6) is the Village Fair, so here’s hoping for some lovely weather. There will be lots to do, and Marie Edwards (01797 253264) is taking bookings for the stalls, crafts and local organisations and boot fair pitches, Colin Cross (233258) is the contact for the vintage car and motorcycle rally, and Helen Sitford (252152) for the dog show.

CHURCH SERVICES: Sunday, St Mary’s: 8am Holy Communion, 11am Fellowship Service with lunch (all welcome). St Teresa’s: 9am Mass.
