It is the group’s tenth annual appearance at the village.

Not to be missed, Babi’ is probably The Rude Mechanicals’ funniest play yet. It is a flat out farce in the manner of Goldoni, but the play

goes back to the much more satirical ‘farces’ of the commedia dell’arte.

It centres on miserly widower and gold merchant Sydney Lean who receives some sausages by mistake from Philomila Taureaumerde.

In his foolishness he assumes them to be a proclamation of her affection, so he writes her a love poem to be delivered by his incompetent servant Babi.

Picnics from 6.30pm, performance at 7.30pm.
