Operation Crackdown

Almost 400 offences were discovered by Sussex Police during two weeks of Operation Crackdown on the A259.

These included arrests of two drink drivers and one disqualified motorist, two cases of taking and driving away, and 33 vehicles seized because they were unlicensed or uninsured.

Inspector Steve Grace commented: "There is no excuse for many of the offences we dealt with. Drivers using a handheld mobile phone or deliberately speeding are disregarding their own safety and that of others.

"We are increasingly using unmarked police cars and motorcycles and those caught jeopardising road safety can expect to be dealth with robustly."
