Big team at Chestnut Tree House

This week marks the start of the Chinese New Year – the Year of the Goat.

Goats like to be in groups, and work well as part of a team. We are a big group at Chestnut Tree House, and as a team, we look after a special group of families who find themselves in a very different world from the one they hoped for.

People born in the Year of the Goat are also thought to be honest, calm and strong, and can be easily moved by the misfortune of others.

This is also like the families at Chestnut Tree House, who find strength in supporting each other. Often when they come to Chestnut Tree House, meeting other families in a similar situation to themselves is a very important part of their care.

It is great to see some of our new families get together and see that while their lives are difficult, they are not on their own. The compassion shown by the other families is very humbling.

For many people the new year is a time for celebration and aspiration for the future; for the families we help, they are often just pleased that their child is still with them, as sadly they never know how long that will be the case.

Thank you to everyone involved in making Chestnut Tree House what it is.
