CHIPPER: Spring’s here as the flowers are in bloom

I hope you’ve all had a good Easter and not eaten too much chocolate!

It’s been very exciting seeing all of the colourful Easter decorations, but because they were all taken down this week I decided to go and see if I could find some real flowers.

The weather can’t seem to make it’s mind up but spring is definitely on its way. Flowers are starting to grow!

There are some very pretty daffodils in my garden at the moment, and bluebells too.

But I thought that it would be nice to have some sunshine, so I decided to plant a sunflower with my mum and dad.

Sunflowers are really easy to grow. You can get some seeds from the garden centre, and then all you have to do is put them in a pot with some soil and water them every few days. It’s best if you can keep them in your house in a pot until the weather heats up, but make sure they are near a sunny window! I wonder how tall my sunflowers will be by the summer?

While my sunflowers are growing, I decided to make some paper flowers to keep our house looking colourful.

You can make paper flowers by drawing around your hand on a piece of coloured paper and getting an adult to help you cut this out to make petals.

I had to use my friend’s hand though, it doesn’t work very well with a paw!

Then, you can use either a green straw or a piece of rolled up green paper as a stem, and stick your handshaped petals onto the top of it with stickytape or glue.

Next, get an adult to help you cut out a circle of yellow paper and stick it in the centre of the petals.

I gave my flowers to my mum and dad, and they really loved them. I hope yours do, too!

Chip chip for now!
