HEALTH AND CARE: Survey results will help shape services

More than 6,000 people took the opportunity to have their say, and we want to thank everyone who took part.

We are particularly pleased to have heard from people across our whole area; we heard from carers, parents, older people, those with disabilities and long term conditions, as well people from a mixture of different backgrounds.

Nearly half of those who replied had used urgent care services (such as 111, GP out-of-hours services, a walk-in service or A&E) and nearly all – over 90 per cent – had visited their GP in the past year, so there was incredible feedback.

In addition to the main responses, we were also delighted to receive more than 4,300 individual responses with people sharing with us what is working well at the moment and ways we could improve local health services.

This feedback is invaluable and will mean that we can make sure patients’ experiences of local care and your views are right at the centre of our work as we plan services for the coming years.

It is so important to the CCG that we also share with our local communities what we have heard from you and what we are going to do as a result, and we will be making this happen over the coming weeks.

We want to share the survey results properly and there will be a launch and the chance for everyone to find out more about what people have told us about local services and how this will help us to make them better for years to come.

In the short-term, we will be presenting the initial results at our Governing Body: Assurance meeting in public on Tuesday.

This meeting will be an opportunity for the CCG’s Governing Body members, who hold the organisation to account, to hear in detail what people have been telling us and also for us to share the results more widely, as the meeting will be filmed and the videos will be available on our public website.

Also on the agenda for the meeting is a discussion on primary care co-commissioning and how the CCG will take more responsibility for GP services from the start of April, and the local plans to bring together health and social care services to focus on the needs of local people.
