ST BARNABAS: Consider our hospice when making your will

We’re approaching our annual will writing appeal, so while I appreciate it is a delicate and highly personal matter, I’d like to tell you how important having a will can be.

Making a will allows you to plan what happens to your money and possessions after you die.

If you die without a will, your possessions will be allocated according to set rules, rather than according to your wishes.

Perhaps you have made a will but your circumstances may have changed, such as marriage or divorce, or the birth of children or grandchildren.

Making a will is one of the most important things you can do.

Many people are surprised by just how important gifts in wills are to St Barnabas House. On average, the care of one in four patients is funded by gifts in wills.

It is thanks to the generosity of so many people over the years that St Barnabas is the wonderful, thriving, modern service that it is today.

From October 1 to 25, a number solicitors’ firms are offering appointments to help you make or update a standard will, in return for a donation to the hospice.

There is no obligation to include a gift to St Barnabas in your will when using the appeal, but we hope once you have provided for your loved ones, you might consider thinking of us.

You can find more details about the will Writing Appeal and all participating solicitors on our website at www.stbh.org.uk/willwritingappeal.
