It's just over a month to go now until the start of Hospice Care Week, the national campaign to raise awareness of hospice care services across the UK.

This year’s Hospice Care Week will take place from October 3 to 9, with the theme being “Hospice care is…” and the goal being to dispel some of the common misconceptions that go with hospice care, such as the idea it is just for people with cancer, or that hospices are fully funded by the NHS.

There are a whole variety of ways you can get involved in Hospice Care Week, and here at St Barnabas House we have a number of exciting events taking place.

One way you can take part is by hosting a Big Get Together.

All you have to do is hold your own night in, be it a party or a small gathering of friends or family, and ask your guests to make a donation to St Barnabas House.

If that’s not for you, why not join me by registering for our South Downs Trek which takes place on Saturday, October 8.

I took part last year and it was a tough challenge but great fun, and ultimately a big success, raising £40,000 for St Barnabas.

There are various other ways you can support us during Hospice Care Week, such as by visiting one of our many charity shops, volunteering or playing our lottery.
