This is the second time we have held the South Downs Trek, which takes place on Saturday, October 8, to coincide with Hospice Care Week.

Starting at Devil’s Dyke, the trek takes in the beautiful scenery of the South Downs National Park, before finishing at the hospice where participants will be rewarded with a souvenir medal and glass of bubbly.

Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success with over a hundred walkers taking part, raising £40,000 for the hospice.

This year we are hoping to increase the number of walkers and raise even more in the process.

I myself took part last year and enjoyed the challenge so much that I have decided to do it again this year.

I am delighted to say that Derwyn Jones, chairman of our board of trustees, and our new president, Lord Henry, Earl of Arundel, will be joining me.

Registration for this year’s South Downs Trek is £25 per person, and this includes a fundraising pack, South Downs Trek T-shirt, transportation to the start of the route, lunch and refreshment stops.

Open to both men and women, we are asking participants to raise a minimum sponsorship of £250.

If you are interested in taking part in this year’s South Downs Trek you can call our events team on 01903 706354 for more information or register now via our website – www.stbh.org.uk/southdownstrek
