ST BARNABAS: Help charity by donating your unwanted furniture

We sell a huge amount of furniture items each year through our 11 charity shops.

But this demand for good-quality furniture means we need to make sure there are enough pieces in stock when people come to visit.

Currently, we are in need of more furniture items to sell so it would be fantastic if anyone reading this column would like to donate something.

We take all sorts – from coffee tables and dressing tables, to mirrors and coat stands.

If you would like to donate something it has to be good quality, but it can be something you consider to be outdated, as we get many shoppers looking for items they can ‘upcycle’.

Items such as sofas must also have the fire safety label still attached.

Our Durrington, Wick and Ferring shops have specialist furniture departments, so please feel free to take your donations there.

Alternatively, for large items, we can arrange to collect these. You just have to call 01903 275660.

And remember, if you do make a donation, please use Gift Aid!

By signing up to the free Gift Aid scheme, you can help us raise 25 per cent more every time you donate goods to our shops.

If you are a UK taxpayer, HMRC will give us back the amount of tax paid on the value of your donation.

You can find out more about this in our shops.
