TECHNOLOGY: How much does your phone know about you?

You may be aware that your phone is able to determine your location, for instance when using your Maps app or searching for the nearest restaurant on Voucher Cloud. However, what you may not realise is that your location is recorded even when you are not requiring a location service.

If you have an iPhone click on settings, then privacy, then location services, system services and frequent locations. You will see a list of all the cities you have visited recently, click on a town or city and you may be surprised to see that your mobile phone knows all the locations you regularly visit.

If you wish, there is a way to turn off your location tracker on the same page which lists the historic results. However, if you disable this function your smart phone will not be as accurate when giving you useful local suggestions. The decision is yours.
